Aufgrund meiner stark frequentierten regionalhistorischen Homepage und meines Archivs erreichen mich immer wieder genealogische Anfragen, die Bezug auf meine NEWS (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006) oder die inzwischen zahlreichen regionalspezifischen Artikel nehmen. So war es auch jetzt wieder bei meinen letzten Online-Beiträgen über die jüdischen Friedhöfe in Bad Münstereifel und Lommersum.
So fragte bereits vor einiger Dr. Horst S. aus Solingen nach Unterlagen über den jüdischen Arzt Dr. Hermann Levy (* 27.09.1838) aus Münstereifel. Am Rande sei erwähnt, dass sich dieser jüdische Akademiker seit Mitte der 1860er Jahre als Arzt in Elberfeld (Wuppertal) niedergelassen hatte, nachdem er seine Schulzeit als einer der ersten jüdischen Schüler am Gymnasium von Münstereifel verbracht hatte. Hier lernte (Abitur 1906) einige Jahrzehnte später auch Hermann Pünder (1888–1976), Oberbürgermeister von Köln 1945–1948, den ich wegen seiner Verdienste um die Wiederherstellung des jüdischen Friedhofs von Bad Münstereifel hervorgehoben hatte. Auch künftig werden noch private Informationen und Fotos über die Vorfahren, Eltern, Geschwister über den erwähnten Dr. Hermann Levy gesucht.
Andere Leser teilen mir zum Beispiel mit, dass sie irgendwo im Ausland Epitaphe auf Friedhöfen entdeckt haben, die auf unsere Region hinweisen. Ein Beispiel für „Münstereifeler Spuren auf dem Friedhof von Lima (Peru)“ nannte Frau Gertrud Anne Sch. aus Lingen und bewies dies anhand eines Fotos:
Die Genealogin und Historikerin hatte herausgefunden, dass Münstereifel, der Geburtsort von LEOPOLD HERZ (* 17.07.1914, † 02.09.1948), zu meinem Forschungsgebiet gehört. Ich wandte mich an den „Fernseh“-Standesbeamten Willi Weber von der Stadtverwaltung Bad Münstereifel, der mir dankenswerterweise sofort half, da die NS-Akten nicht ergiebig waren. Für die Genealogen der Eifel kann kurz die Information festgehalten werden: „Leopold Herz, Sohn von Hermann Herz (geb.08.08.1868 in Münstereifel) und Betty Herz geb. Weil, einst wohnhaft in der Orchheimer Str. 40 bzw. Johannisstraße 5. Weitere Kinder: Edith Herz (geb.6.12.1907) und Irene Herz (geb.11.10.1906 in Münstereifel)“.
Durch den Grabstein in Peru wurde den Münstereifeler Stadthistorikern wieder eine neue jüdische Spur gezeigt, und erweiterte genealogische Forschungen könnten jetzt in Peru angestellt werden.
An anderer Stelle teilte ich schon mit, dass dann die amerikanische „Herz-Yahoo group“ motiviert wurde. Die US-Genealogin Laura Shields aus Kalifornien beschrieb mir das diesbezügliche Online-Verfahren:

I understand that you are a historical expert and have vast knowledge of a very interesting and sad time in history. I have very little knowledge – none, compared to your expertise.
I have been trying to trace our family roots – specifically my husband's mother's side and only seem to find dead ends. That was until I received an e-mail with the below information. In my research, I have learned all of the below names and their place in our family, but until now have never been able to find any information on them. I am not even certain how this information relates to you, but am hoping that you might be able to share something with me, anything with me (...). Even if it is only to share what your interest in our family is.
Leopold would have been my mother-in-law's uncle – Irene was her mother. Irene was married to Hans "Jack" Weinhausen – who divorced her in Peru, after having her institutionalized. She passed away in the 1980's in Canada. He remarried and, regretably passed in the 1970's in California, USA. I know a little bit more and have a few pictures and documents, but not much and all copies. I believe my mother-in-law posesses some originals.
I would be forever grateful if there was any information or direction that you could share with me or point me to in discovering the lineage of the Herz family – or even the Weinhausen family. Hans had a brother Karl (Karl's daughter Kitty Nora). Their parents were Mimi Sara and Victor Weinhausen. I believe that most members of both families were victims of the holocaust - though, could be wrong. I was once told that Victor was a pianist and Mimi Sara an opera singer.
I want to be able to tell my children about the courage of their family and give them information to their heritage. I hope to discover this information before it all disappears – which seems to be happening before my eyes. I would love if you could take some time out of your busy schedule to reply to me.
